A Love Story

The story of Sparta Soda Works began in 1953 when Architect John W. Steinmann, inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright, designed a simple yet elegant building at 121 E Oak St. The building would house the City of Sparta Fire Department and Monroe County Jail. Owned by the city for the next 68 years, it went through several renovations to fit the ever-changing needs of its inhabitants. Finally, in 2021, Sparta outgrew the building. As part of their plan to preserve the beautiful structure, located in Sparta's Historical Downtown District, the City of Sparta called for proposals that would breathe new life into the property.

Jeanette and Beau dreamt up Sparta Soda Works to preserve Steinmann's architecture by creating a gathering place where they can share their passions with guests. They've been brewing soda together ever since they started a family, turning their passion for homebrewing beer into something the entire family could enjoy. Sparta Soda Works is a combination of Jeanette's passion for local farms and beverages made with the freshest ingredients available and Beau's love of historic architecture. The result is a beautiful destination where friends and family can gather in the heart of Monroe County, Wisconsin, to experience the best of the area through food, beverages, and entertainment.
